Sarah (one of our flower girls) playing w/Booboo… I LOVE this picture!
All day Sarah pulled Boo along in the wagon. She put food & water in with her, a blanket, and even stopped on a few occasions to give her a “massage”. Booboo just sat in the wagon & enjoyed the ride… The pay offs are big for being a cute puppy!!
Last week Josh finally agreed to go on a run with me. This week I found a box from Amazon.com on the table. Inside was a watch that has all the alarms I need and is also in pink (my favorite color). While running, all I said to Josh was that a watch would be helpful with my marathon training. Next thing I know, the perfect watch is sitting on my table. It’s the little things that show me how much he loves me. Thank you Josh… I love you too!

I’m going to go with “NOT” here! LOL!
My mom made me try on this dress when we did Filene’s Running of the Brides. Not only does it look like the dress my stepmother wore to marry my dad, but some of the girls there actually thought I was serious! Thanks Mom… I owe you one!
I love flowers! I love fresh flowers on my mantel (Josh brings me home fresh flowers every week!), “waterless” flowers in my foyer, fabric flowers on my clothes, silk flowers in my hair… I just heart flowers!! They make me happy.
Flowers are my mother’s influence. They were the one indulgence she always gave herself while I was growing up… I grew up with them, and grew up appreciating them.
So, now I find myself sitting here thinking about flowers & thinking about our wedding (it’s always on my mind)… I want flowers everywhere! I want them on my dress, in my hair, in my bridesmaids’ hair, on my flower girls’ sashes, lining the aisle (wherever that aisle may be), on the center of the tables, hanging from the tents… everywhere!
I would LOVE hydrangea, peonies, spray roses, & Sahara roses in pink & white!
How pretty is this centerpiece (picture from theknot.com)?!
And just look at this bouquet full of peonies!! So gorgeous (picture from theknot.com)!

Just thinking about all the flowers makes me so excited! I’m a girl who would rather adorn herself in blooms than in diamonds… lucky Josh!
I can’t wait to start the flower DIY wedding projects and see the bouquet Josh makes for me… Yup, that’s right – He’s making my bouquet! We decided that before our rehearsal dinner we’re going to have our wedding party and some family get together to construct the centerpieces, bouquets, and boutineers. Good thing we hired Sandy to help with this big project (she’s a genius with flowers)!
Ah, at last, the stress is dying down as I think about all the pretty & fragrant flowers!
Maybe I’ll stop tomorrow to pick some up on my way home from work (I just wish peonies were in season)…
Wow! It’s been so long since I last posted & a lot has happened… Josh & I have moved into our house and are pretty much settled (minus some furniture), we’ve jumped into planning our wedding, and have been pretty much wrapped up in our day to day lives.
The house is amazing – We LOVE it! When we arrive home after work we always take a little time to appreciate it, and every day we wake up feeling so fortunate to have such a lovely house… The house of our dreams! A few rooms remain empty due to all extra funds going into wedding savings, but we think we’ve done a pretty good job of decorating and getting some key pieces (i.e. our new leather sofa & gorgeous Ralph Lauren coffee table). We made a few splurges (our luxurious Restoration Hardware bedding) and also found some amazing bargains (the brass cannonball bed found on Craigslist for $100). All in all, we’ve had a lot of fun setting up our house, and making it our home.
As far as the wedding goes, we’ve accomplished the following things:
We’re doing pretty well, but the main thing we need to accomplish is finding our ceremony location. We asked a local sanctuary if we could do it there on a beautiful bluff overlooking the ocean, but they don’t allow private ceremonies. We also inquired about having it on a small island nearby, but the transportation boat is too small for the wedding party and would take 2 1/2 hours to get everyone over (we can’t charter a boat b/c there is no dock!)… So here we stand, no place to get married, but the perfect place to party afterward! We checked out churches, but don’t feel that a church wedding is for us (We’d classify ourselves as spiritual, but not religious… Actually I think that really is how we classified ourselves on Match.com!) So that is the next big step.
I’ve actually been stressing out a lot lately about the wedding… Even having nightmares! It’s not one bit about marrying Josh, because I know that will be the best thing I ever do in my whole life (I know how lucky of a girl I am!). It’s the actual party itself… and my dress! All the little details are starting to haunt me!! I can be a perfectionist & the daunting task of accomplishing the most beautiful wedding while staying within budget is really making me nervous. I’ve actually asked Josh on several occasions if he wouldn’t mind eloping… He doesn’t want to.
We’re too busy to get up to Maine for a leisure trip any time soon (we’re working the orchard every other weekend this fall & I’m running a few half marathons), so I don’t know how we’ll find the perfect place! We don’t even have time to schedule our engagement photos before the end of November!! I guess at least they can now double as our Christmas cards.
I really don’t know how people plan weddings, work, and have a social life – Seems all so overwhelming to me! However, the thought of marrying Josh keeps me sane and happy. Sometimes I cry thinking about how he’ll look at the end of the aisle and what I’ll say to him when I recite my vows. Lots of times I’ll hear how women wish they could change this or that about their husbands or boyfriends and I just think to myself that I wouldn’t change one thing about Josh. I wouldn’t change that he puts his dirty socks back into the sock draw to wear again (don’t worry, I take them out and put them in the hamper). I wouldn’t change that he keeps modifying our SUV by making it taller and taller (I can hardly step up into it now). I wouldn’t change the fact that he wants to live in Maine someday, even though the closest grocery store is 30 minutes away (I’d go anywhere with him). I wouldn’t change one thing. He is who he is, and who he is is my soul mate. He knows me better than I know myself and loves me more than I’ve ever seen someone love another person. With Josh I have everything, even if we have nothing.
So… I have to remind myself of that as we get into the wedding countdown. Less than 10 months to go! This process is not about engagement rings, wedding dresses, the guest list (oh boy is that drama!) or even the perfect ceremony spot… It’s about us. Josh & Me. It’s about celebrating us, our relationship, and our future, and it’s also about having fun (Josh, don’t forget to remind me of that often!)
I’m going to try to post more, as there are so many things going on lately… So stay tuned!
Love, Ruthann
Josh & I just purchased our dream home!
The day after Josh’s proposal, we signed the papers and became the proud owners of our new house. We’re going to be moving in January 24th, but before then I want to share some photos!
We’ll write more soon as we have a LOT of decorating and fun projects planned!
xo,
Ruthann
